Corruption Commission (NACC) has uncovered the theft of medical equipment, vaccines and medicines worth millions of riyals from a warehouse owned by the Ministry of Health. This was revealed Monday by Muhammad Bin Abdullah Al-Sharif, President of the NACC. Al-Sharif said the commission acted after receiving a tip-off from official sources. It was found that the stolen medicines, medical apparatus and vaccines were being sold to private medical centers and hospitals after the Ministry of Health's labels were removed. He said a storekeeper, who is the main suspect, had forged the delivery orders of these centers and hospitals. Other suspects were also arrested. He said the NACC, in conjunction with the security authorities, had placed the suspect and his accomplices under surveillance, and they were caught red-handed. More than 20 suspects of different nationalities have been apprehended, the commission chief added. Al-Sharif said the thieves kept the stolen goods in an inadequate storage facility that adversely affected the quality of the vaccines and medicines.
