Due to the large number of students in classes, an Indian school got penalized by the local authorities, the envoy said while addressing students and teachers of International Indian School-Riyadh (IISR). The IISR managing committee (MC) and staff organized the function to welcome the new ambassador. Javed said we do understand that huge number of students is seeking admissions and management is trying its best to look for another place to accommodate more students. To facilitate more accommodation and to meet the demand we should not break rules. He appreciated the IISR staff, whose continuous efforts are getting good results and bringing laurels to the school. This also reflects the quality of education and efforts of teachers. Javed said the Indian Embassy strives to put all efforts to impart quality education to children. "We always revive and try to improve the standard of education at this institution. This is a matter of pride and distinction for IISR that it is the only center outside India for pre medical joint entrance test in Saudi Arabia," he added. In a highly inspiring speech, Javed said Indian schools had played very crucial role in imparting quality education to children of Indian community. "School has great responsibility towards the community. It is the duty of the school in not only imparting education to pass exams, but more importantly we should create more responsible citizens. "The school should constantly strive to make education better and better. The role of managing committee assumes greater importance. It is not just to maintain quality education but more importantly efforts should be made to improve the standard of education and for this the managing committee should be farsighted." The ambassador also appreciated the one of a kind snooker table in IISR and exhibited a few moves much to the pleasure of those present Dr. S.M. Shaukat Pervaiz, principal and HOI International Indian School Riyadh, said: "High ambition, heart touching expression and vibrant spirit are fundamental assets of a statesman, a patron and ambassador. This is a momentous occasion in the history of our school that we are gathered here to welcome a national hero, a pioneer a statesman, a patron and the ambassador, who is a history maker." "Today we are welcoming Ahmad Javed, a history maker of India and is being part of history of International Indian School, Riyadh. The former police commissioner of Mumbai was given a heroic farewell by public — a first in history. We the school and the Indian community are blessed in having such a gem of India as our patron." Earlier, the function began with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Qur'an by Master Hamza and its translation. Dr. Shafi Ahmed Sattar, chairman of MC, in his speech, explained the burning issue of NRI's admission of their children in schools and hoped the future MC would get new land and building to meet the growing demand. Shafi said: "Along with MC and principal after more than 2 years searching land for school we have finally shortlisted six developers and will soon present the list to the higher board." IISR's calendar and teachers journal "Synergy" was released by Shabnam Javed, wife of the envoy. Mrs. Niyaz, wife of MC member, presented portrait to the ambassador. Principal Dr. Shoukath Pervaiz, chairman and members managing committee presented a memento to the envoy. Dr. Hifzur Rahman Azmi, second secretary and observer Indian schools in the Kingdom, was also present. Asma Shah, vice principal of the Girls' Section conducted the proceedings, and Meera Rehman proposed a vote of thanks. The program came to a close with the playing of the national anthem of both the countries.
