Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The Community Welfare Section (CWS) at Consulate General of Pakistan has recovered compensation/dues for a 16 months period amounting to SR190,695 owed to the kin of deceased Pakistanis in the western region through the efforts of welfare wing. Syed Tahseemul Haque Haqqi, vice consul community welfare at Pakistan Consulate General, made this statement in a special press briefing at his office recently. He lauded the support and encouragement of Consul General Pakistan Shehryar Akbar Khan and said he has always been keen to provide best and prompt multidimensional services to Pakistani expatriates at the Consulate here. He said the consul general has further bolster multidimensional services to compatriots as per the suggestions from community members. Haqqi added that under the wise leadership and guidance of Shehryar Akbar Khan the community welfare section (CWS) and all other sections too are getting improvements. He said in 2015 CWS handled 56,357 number of cases of illegal immigration. The CWS staff visited the jails and deportation camps 326 times to look after the welfare of Pakistani prisoners and to facilitate their repatriation/deportation to Pakistan. Four hundred and forty one of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) membership cards have been issued, Haqqi said, adding, 44 employers contacted the CWS. Seventeen visits were made by CWS staff to the employment sites of the migrant workers. He said 953 dead bodies were transported to Pakistan during the year 2015 while the number of dead migrant workers in the host country was 2,972. Haqqi briefed all that CWS has issued 435 remittances cards during the period of January to April 2016.
