RIYADH — The Ministry of Education has penalized the students who abused their teacher in a Riyadh school with a year's suspension and cancellation of their grades for the year. A ministry spokesman said the students were suspended from studies for the rest of the current academic year and prevented from studying in any other government school anywhere in the Kingdom. The students of Al-Huda secondary school in Riyadh not only verbally abused their Egyptian teacher Mahmoud Al-Mileeji but filmed and circulated their action on the social media, where it became viral. The widely circulated video evoked a barrage of reaction and they were blamed for their brazen action and poor behavior. The students brought their parents with them to the school, apologized to the teacher and kissed him on the head as a token of respect but the ministry is not ready to forgive them. The ministry described the students' action as completely unacceptable and said it contained lack of respect which is pivotal in the educational process The ministry asked the department of education in Riyadh to closely watch schools, its teachers and students during the next academic year and to immediately report any misdemeanors. The students have publicly apologized to the teacher and posted their apology on the social media. They said they regretted their bad behavior but the ministry decided to still punish them.
