Faisal, Emir of Makkah region, said Monday people with selfish interests are trying to thwart the development project of unplanned districts. Speaking at a meeting with journalists, businessmen and intellectuals, the Emir the hidden campaign seeks to incite citizens without knowledge. “These people want the situation to remain as it is for interests that do not serve the nation or the citizens. They incite residents who do not know the real regulations and they falsify information that the houses will be owned by businessmen. This is not true,” Prince Khaled said. “There are people saying that the Jeddah Development Company is a private company. But no, it is completely owned by the government,” he added. The Emir also criticized media organizations. “Unfortunately, there are reporters of some newspapers who have participated in inciting people in these districts. I hope they carry out national roles and not provocative ones,” he said. “We're working with high professionalism and we won't accept anyone belittling us through obstinacy, though the person may be unqualified for that. Every person taking up a post ought to be qualified academically, practically and administratively. I'm happy that there are youths who achieve this every year.” He also said that 280 million sq.m. of lands that were illegally encroached have been recovered. __
