The Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation has appointed Ms. Nadia Bakhurji as the secretary general of the Foundation, a press statement of the Foundation said Saturday. The decision came in a board of trustees meeting which was headed by prince Al Waleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and attended by several members, the statement said. The new appointment apart, the meeting discussed various projects of the Foundation on hand and scores of other future plans. During the past 30 years, the Foundation has donated some SR 10 billion in the field of education, sports, building academic institutions focusing particularly on empowering Saudi women, poverty-alleviation programs and in building other social infrastructure. Pope Benedict XVI in 2008 awarded the Foundation with Pontifical medal in recognition of its services spanning 30 years.
