Batin accident involving a Land Cruiser wherein the driver allegedly could not stop the car due to a cruise control malfunction, Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) announced that the system in place is pretty much safe. ALJ said that inspections made to all reported cases did not show any technical or factory defect. The company added that the safety of its clients could never be compromised, and that since 65 years, when the first Land Cruiser was imported to the Kingdom, a technical or factory defect has never been found in Land Cruiser's cruise control system, whether in Saudi Arabia or the global markets. ALJ said after referring to Toyota in Japan and to the chassis number, it is revealed that car was imported to the Kingdom not by ALJ, but by a showroom in Riaydh from one of the Gulf countries, and was then sold to a used cars showroom in Riyadh. Engineer Osman Al Orabi, maintenance executive director in ALJ said tthe company started investigating the accident in coordination with Hafr Al-Batin traffic department, car owner and other government authorities. Al Orabi said that the Land Cruiser is one of the best sellers 4x4 autos in the Kingdom and the world, and that not a single incident was reported about a technical or factory defect in the cruise control system of this car.
