Border guards seize 200 kg of hashish

Border guards seized 213 kg of hashish as it was being smuggled into the Kingdom on Saturday. Jazan Border Guard spokesman Col. Saher Al-Harbi said the guards near Al-Dayer area arrested a number of people attempting to sneak into the Kingdom. The guards found in their possession 213 kg of hashish. The case was handed over to the pertinent authorities.
Eateries shut down over bad hygiene
BISHA — The municipality shut down a number of stores and restaurants over multiple health violations. Bisha Municipality head Mohammad Al-Bishr said the stores and restaurants were shut down due to violations such as poor hygiene in the workplace, workers without health certificates, rusted utensils and serving expired food. The inspectors arrested 24 workers. The municipality runs regular inspection campaigns, which sometimes extend beyond the regular working hours to check on stores and restaurants.
Coronavirus kills middle-aged woman
BURAIDAH — A woman in her 50s died after she was infected with Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus. Ministry of Health Command and Control Center reported the woman was the 14 fatality due to coronavirus in Buraidah.
Labor office records 13 violations
QURAYYAT — The labor office here recorded 13 violations of labor and residency laws. Qurayyat Labor Office acting director Abdullah Al-Sharari said they conducted an inspection campaign at several establishments and issued violation warnings to four establishments, including private pharmacies. The violations included incorrect or missing official data, not hiring a manager present in the workplace, working for an employer who is not the worker's sponsor, operating without a license and hiring non-Saudis in sectors only open to Saudis.
House gutted in fire, no casualties
BURAIDAH — The Civil Defense extinguished a house fire on Saturday evening. Buraidah Civil Defense said they received reports of the fire at Al-Nahdah neighborhood. The fire broke out in one room and quickly spread to the rest of the house but there were no injuries recorded. Civil Defense officers extinguished the fire.
Car rolls down hill, driver killed
BISHA — A man died on Saturday in an accident on Rayn Bisha-Riyadh Highway, the Red Crescent said. The victim was in his 30s. He died when his vehicle rolled down while he was driving on a mountainous stretch of the road. Witnesses said the victim lost control of the vehicle, causing it to swerve off the main road and roll multiple times. The paramedics found the man with critical injuries and took him to hospital but he died on the way.
Man drowns in Shirma beach
TABUK — A man drowned to death in Shirma beach. Tabuk Red Crescent spokesman Khalid Al-Enizi said a group of people brought the body of the man into the Red Crescent Emergency Center. The victim was in his fifties.
