Saudi Gazette RIYADH — Hindustani Bazme Urdu, an organisation working for the cause of promoting Urdu language in the Kingdom, started Bazme Urdu Toastmasters Club two years ago to provide a platform to the Urdu speaking community here to improve their communication skills. Celebrating its golden jubilee meeting at the Almas restaurant here a large number of Urdu lovers, Area and Division directors attended the event. Dr.Hifzur Rahman, second secretary, Embassy of India was the chief guest. He said, everyone needs to put in efforts for the development of Urdu. He appreciated Hindustani Bazme Urdu's initiative in starting a Toastmasters Club in Urdu here. TM Abdul Hameed, president of the club, highlighted the club's achievements. He also announced the formation of Gavel club for the children, which will be bilingual in English and Urdu languages. TM Abdul Rahman Saleem, charter president, presented in detail the journey of the club during the last two years. He introduced the executive committee to the audience. He encouraged the audience to become part of the Bazme Urdu Toastmasters Club. Delivering an inspirational speech, senior member TM Dr. Sayeed Nawaz stressed on the need to safeguard the heritage of Urdu language and encourage audience to learn and perfect the Urdu language. While Vice President Taqiuddin Mir regaled the audience with his humorous speech topic "Ek Tha Tiger". TM Mohammed Mubin, a founder member introduced the Toastmaster Officials and gave a brief about the structure of the organization. Division Directors TM. Samer Kamal, TM. Syed Zia ur Rahman, Area Director TM. Shiva Ramalingam and Past Area Director Sanjay Mahat also spoke on this occasion. Sultan Mazharuddin was voted as the best speaker of Table topics session conducted by Senior Journalist TM K.N.Wasif. On this occasion achievement awards were presented to TM Dr.Ozair Gazi, TM M.A.R.Saleem, TM M.A.Hameed, TM Dr. Sayeed Mohiuddin and TM Mohammed Mubin while TM S.A.Hamid, TM Zia ul Hoque, TM Nawazuddin, TM M.A.Rasool and TM Abdul Quddus Javid received appreciation awards. The program anchored by TM Shahbaz Farooqui started with recitation of verses from Holy Qur'an by Hafiz Khaja Aleemuddin and introductions by TM Syed Ateeq Ahmed while TM Dr.Syeed Mohiuddin extended the vote of thanks. Toastmasters is a non-profit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking and leadership skills.
