The general assembly of the Okaz Organization for Press and Publication has approved the company's closing accounts for the fiscal year 2015 and decided to allocate 10 percent of the profits for training and development of journalistic skills. In its regular annual meeting on Saturday, the general assembly also decided to earmark 1.5 percent of the profits for social responsibility programs. The general assembly elected a new board of directors for a three-year term. Chairman of the board Abdullah Saleh Kamel chaired the meeting. The company's director general, Waleed J. Kattan, was absent from the meeting as he is recuperating in London after a successful surgical operation at Hammersmith Hospital. The assembly commended the organization's continued editorial and administrative successes and expressed its understanding of the challenges facing the media organizations at both local and international levels. The assembly welcomed the appointment of Jameel Al-Dhiyabi as editor-in-chief of Okaz and confirmed Somayya Al-Jabarti as editor-in-chief of Saudi Gazette and Mohammed Al-Bikairi as editor-in-chief of Al-Nadi sports daily. Dhiyabi, who took over as Okaz editor-in-chief on Nov. 20, was elected a member of the general assembly. He was earlier appointed as a member of the board of directors. It asked the organization's three daily publications to make more efforts to further develop their print and electronic editions and urged the new board of directors to open new horizons for the diversification of the sources of income according to the organization' strategy. The assembly expressed thanks and gratitude for the veteran journalist Abdullah Omar Khayyat, member of the assembly and the board of directors, for his dedicated efforts to serve the organization during the past three decades. The new board of directors is composed of Abdullah Kamel, Nabeel Abdullah Al-Hossain, Walid Bin Mahfouz, Dr. Tariq Ali Fadaq, Dr. Ahmed Al-Yousuf, Hussein Shobokshi, Dr. Walid Arab Hashim, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Dikhail and Dr. Musallam Ali Musallam. Following the meeting of the general assembly, the new board of directors held its first meeting and elected Abdullah Kamel as chairman.
