Haramain Road will end soon, a senior traffic official has said. Brig. Muhammad Al-Qahtani, Director of Jeddah Traffic Administration, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that his department has coordinated with Jeddah Mayoralty to set up parking areas for trucks outside the governorate to prevent them from using the road during peak hours. Jeddah Traffic Administration has sent Jeddah Mayoralty a complete report which includes the suggestion that parking facilities be found for trucks outside Jeddah, Brig. Al-Qahtani said, adding that the mayoralty welcomed the suggestion. “We continuously coordinate with the Department of Roads and Transportation inside the mayoralty regarding the completion of the new east ring road, five kilometers east of Al-Haramain Road,” he said. The traffic administration has a full plan for Al-Haramain Road, Brig. Al-Qahtani pointed out, adding that last year's statistics registered 300,000 traffic violations on the same road. The administration, he said, is coordinating with the Saudi Red Crescent to transport injured traffic accident victims by helicopter to hospitals, which will also allow traffic police to tow away damaged cars and prevent any disruption in the flow of traffic. Several intersections in the city are facing traffic jams at peak hours almost on a daily basis. __
