JEDDAH – "We are pleased to announce the launch of the Gulf Urdu Council. Its aim will be to organize Mushairahs and seminars to promote Urdu language and literature. Poets and writers living in Gulf countries will be awarded by this council," said Mahtab Qadr while addressing the audience of Urdu Gulban.com's Mushairah and dinner to welcome guest poets Mir Firasat Ali (Riyadh) and Chakkar Nizamabadi from India. "The formal list of the Urdu Council's members and post-holders will be issued soon," he said. The Mushairah was organized at the residence of famous socialite Hasan Bayazeed on Friday night. Mir Firast Ali a Hyderabadi poet and a long-time resident of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Chakkar Nizamabadi a guest poet of humor and satire from Hyderabad, India were welcomed by the audience. Both poets along with the local poets were applauded by the audience.
