Gulf Urdu Council to be launched to promote language
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 11 - 02 - 2016

JEDDAH – "We are pleased to announce the launch of the Gulf Urdu Council. Its aim will be to organize Mushairahs and seminars to promote Urdu language and literature. Poets and writers living in Gulf countries will be awarded by this council," said Mahtab Qadr while addressing the audience of Urdu Gulban.com's Mushairah and dinner to welcome guest poets Mir Firasat Ali (Riyadh) and Chakkar Nizamabadi from India.
"The formal list of the Urdu Council's members and post-holders will be issued soon," he said. The Mushairah was organized at the residence of famous socialite Hasan Bayazeed on Friday night. Mir Firast Ali a Hyderabadi poet and a long-time resident of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Chakkar Nizamabadi a guest poet of humor and satire from Hyderabad, India were welcomed by the audience. Both poets along with the local poets were applauded by the audience.
Some examples of the poetry, recited in the program:
Farhatullah Khan:
Bandagi kar len ana chhod ke apni Farhat
Aasmaanon ka kabhi hum bhi ishara samjhen
Kamran Khan:
Aaya tha mere paas ujale liye hue
Lekin sabhi andhere mere naam kar gaya
Altaf Shahryar:
Bahut aasan nahin hai sher kahna
Miyan is kaam men rakhne bahut hain
Faisal Tufail:
Khamoshi teri cheekh se yeh bhed khula hai
Sannate se bhi lipti hui koi sada hai
Yunus Almas:
Ujdi duniya men rahke bhi Almas
Man ki duniya basa gaye hum log
Irfan Barabankwi:
Yeh kisi haal men khamosh nahin rah sakta
Kaat di jaye zuban phir bhi qalam bolta hai
Mahtab Qadr:
Jub chatakti hai kali, phool mahak uthta hai
Apne lut jaane ka matam hai gulon ki khushboo
Muhammad Abdul Bari ‘Chakkar Nizamabadi':
Binte Hawwa ke yeh nakhre nahin nahin achhe lagte
Aisi manhgaai men bachche nahin achhe lagte
Orhni orhe hue kitne hasin lagte the
Ab yeh berang lifafe nahin achhe lagte
Moton ki race ka bhi ajab haal tha hua
Sub haanpte the koi magar bhagta na tha
Mir Firasat Ali:
Hamara zarf hamen badh ke rok leta hai
Wagarnah teer bhi hai aur adoo bhi zad per hai
Isi sabab se milaya na haath us se kabhi
Lahoo tapakta hai zalim ki aasteenon se
Aaj kya koi shikayet bhi nahin hai mujh se
Lafz to aap ki jaagir hua karte the
Aaj haathon men hai toote hue lafzon ki kaman
Mere tarkash men kaiee teer hua karte the
Raushni men bhi dikhaaiee nahin dete Khusro
Hum jo her dhund men tanweer hua karte the
Mujahid Syed:
Ai khizan ka qissa sunane walo bhala bataao main kya karoon
Mere is ujaad se dasht men yeh jo phool ab hai khila hua
The program began with the recitation of the verses of the Holy Qur'an by Athar Asloobi. Mir Firasat Ali informed the audience of the literary environment of Riyadh.
He accepted the fact that Jeddah has emerged as a center of Urdu language and literature. Hasan Bayazeed proposed the vote of thanks. Mahtab Qadr was master of the event.
