RIYADH — With five more people charged with spying for Iran, the number of the alleged espionage network members has gone up to 32, Makkah daily reported on Monday. All the arrests were made in March-May 2013, the daily said. Following sustained interrogation of the first batch of spies, more names cropped up resulting in the charges against the new suspects. According to informed sources, the Criminal Court in Riyadh has received the list of charges against the accused from the Bureau of Investigations and Public Prosecution. The spies include 29 Saudis, an Iranian, a Turk and a Lebanese. The sources said the court has decided to hold its first session on Feb. 25 to inform the defendants about the charges against them which include collecting data on a number of vital installations in the Kingdom and maintaining contacts with the Iranian intelligence organs. According to the Interior Ministry, 21 of the suspects have admitted their crimes and legally documented their confessions.
