A woman injured her head after falling off an indoor ride in a major mall in the city. Jazan Red Crescent spokesman Bishi Al-Sarkhy said the Red Crescent received reports of a woman in her 20s falling off one of the rides at a shopping center. Paramedics who rushed to the scene reported the victim had sustained severe injuries to her head. The victim was offered medical attention on the spot but was later transported to Al-Hayat Al-Watani Hospital due to her critical condition. Twin brothers die in Jazan house fire JAZAN — Director General of Jazan Civil Defense Maj. Gen. Saad Al-Ghamdi said they were investigating the circumstances that led to the deaths of 5-year-old twin brothers Rayyan and Raed in a fire that broke out in their home in Al-Uqlah village. It was reported that it took Civil Defense firefighters 16 minutes to reach the house due to its remote location in a rural area. An initial investigation revealed the twins were hiding inside their closet as the fire ripped through the house. Civil Defense firefighters responded to the call immediately but experienced delays reaching the remote village, Maj. Gen. Al-Ghamdi said. He expressed his condolences to the family of the victims. The twins' father expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the efforts the Civil Defense personnel put into extinguishing the fire. 3 Yemenis arrested for drug smuggling JAZAN — Border guards arrested three Yemeni nationals for attempting to smuggle hashish into the Kingdom. Jazan Border Guard spokesman Col. Saher Al-Harbi said the guards were inspecting a vessel in one of the governorate's ports when they discovered a total of 330 kg of hashish hidden in the vessel. The guards arrested three Yemenis who were on the vessel on charges of attempting to smuggle hashish into the Kingdom. Meanwhile, police seized 1,000 drug pills in Tathleeth governorate in neighboring Asir province. Asir Police said officers in Tathleeth stopped a suspicious car and on inspecting it found 1,000 drug pills, a block of hashish, a bottle of alcohol, a gun and SR100,000 in cash. The driver was arrested, the contraband and cash seized and the case was forwarded to the pertinent authorities. Woman, daughter die in home blaze JAZAN — A woman and her 4-year-old daughter died and seven others were injured when a fire broke out in their house in Al-Hisn village in Dhamad governorate. Paramedics at the scene reported a mother and daughter had died in the fire. They said seven other victims were rushed to Dhamad General Hospital. Some of the victims who sustained critical injuries were later transferred to King Fahd Hospital in Jazan. The fire was extinguished before it spread to neighboring houses. The Civil Defense is investigating the cause of the fire.
