A man found a decomposed body in the middle of a desert in Al-Sulayyil governorate. Riyadh Gov. Musaed Al-Madhi said a citizen was grazing his camels in the desert north of the governorate when he saw pieces of worn-out clothes strewn in the area. The citizen followed the track and looked for any sign of its owner. He then found a decomposed body nearby. The citizen informed the police, who started an investigation to identify the body. Disaster averted as firemen contain blaze MADINAH —A grocery store in Al-Mahd governorate caught fire due to an electrical fault on Friday. Madinah Civil Defense spokesman Col. Khalid Al-Jehani said the fire broke out around 10:00 a.m. at the grocery and spread to a shopping center next to the store. The firemen were able to control the blaze before it reached a gas station close to the shopping center, averting a major disaster. After a thorough investigation, the Civil Defense concluded that the cause of the fire was an electrical glitch. Customer shoots pharmacist in Taif TAIF — A customer shot a pharmacist who was serving him following an argument over the opening hours of the pharmacy. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said the victim was an Arab national who was serving a Saudi customer in his 40s at the drug store. The two got into a heated argument over the delay in opening the pharmacy, which ended in the shooting. The pharmacist was hit in his lower back and was transported to hospital, where he is recovering. Police arrested the Saudi and launched an investigation. Two workers trapped at gas station rescued SAMTAH— The Civil Defense rescued two Arab nationals after they were trapped inside a storage tank at a gas station. Jazan Civil Defense Capt. Yahya Al-Qahtani said the workers were part of a maintenance crew checking the pipes and extensions at the gas station. Rescuers got into the storage tank and found the two workers, one Egyptian and the other a Yemeni, lying unconscious on the floor. Paramedics transported them to a nearby hospital, where they are currently recovering. Al-Qahtani said the workers passed out after inhaling toxic fumes and were on the brink of death when they were rescued. Man caught smuggling 50 hashish blocks JAZAN — Police seized 50 blocks of hashish after foiling a smuggling attempt. A patrol team spotted a man of African origin moving suspiciously in the border region of Al-Aridha. On searching him, the officers found 50 blocks of hashish strapped underneath his clothes. The blocks weighed a total of 50 kg. The man was arrested on charges of drug smuggling and was handed over to the pertinent authorities.
