Saudi Arabia and Libya Sunday agreed on resuming bilateral relations, reopening the Saudi embassy in Tripoli and exchanging ambassadors. This came during a meeting between Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Abdulbasit Abdulqadir Al-Badri, envoy of the Chairman of Libyan Transitional Council (LTC), in Riyadh. The Libyan envoy conveyed a message from Mustafa Abdul Jalil, LTC Chairman, to King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Prince Saud congratulated the Libyan envoy on forming a new government. He also asserted that the Kingdom will stand by Libya, wishing the Libyan government and people security, stability and prosperity. The Kingdom recalled its ambassador to Libya during the civil war that began in February. Col. Muammar Al-Gaddafi, the longtime ruler of Libya, was captured and killed in October. His son, Saif Al-Islam was also captured later.
