Warriors avenge Mavs defeat
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 29 - 01 - 2016

Klay Thompson outshone teammate Steph Curry as the Golden State Warriors avenged last month's loss to the Dallas Mavericks with an emphatic 127-107 victory Wednesday.
Thompson poured on 45 points and five rebounds in a superb display as the Warriors romped home against one of only four teams to defeat them this season.
The Mavericks had beaten a Curry-less Warriors line-up in Dallas last month, winning 114-91 in a rare off night for the reigning NBA Champions.
But with Thompson in blistering form and Curry restored to the line-up Wednesday, there was never much chance of the Mavericks pulling off a repeat victory.
The Warriors surged into a double-digit lead in the first quarter and kept the Mavs at bay thereafter as they extended their unbeaten home record to 21-0 this season, 42-4 overall. Dallas fell to 26-22.
The Mavericks, with German star Dirk Nowitzki given a night off, flickered briefly in the third quarter when Chandler Parsons drained a three-pointer to cut the Warriors lead to 65-54.
But the Mavericks fightback was snuffed out as the Warriors went on a 30-point blitz to build a comfortable 95-77 lead.
Curry finished with a relatively modest 14-point haul, just ahead of Harrison Barnes (13) and Draymond Green (10).
Cavaliers 115, Suns 93
LeBron James had 21 points and nine assists and forward Kevin Love had 21 points and 11 rebounds in the Cleveland Cavaliers' 115-93 victory over the Phoenix Suns.
Rookie guard Devin Booker scored 16 points for the Suns, who have lost their last 12 road games and 16 of their last 18 overall.
Pistons 110, 76ers 97
Andre Drummond bounced back from two subpar performances with 25 points and 18 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons beat the Philadelphia 76ers.
Drummond, who had 11 points and 14 rebounds in his previous two outings combined, scored 17 points during the second half and collected his league-high 38th double-double.
Celtics 111, Nuggets 103
Guard Avery Bradley scored 27 points as the Celtics posted their fourth victory in a row and seventh in nine games.
Boston (26-21) broke an 11-11 tie with eight consecutive points and was never caught after that.
Spurs 130, Rockets 99
LaMarcus Aldridge poured in 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as San Antonio roared past Houston.
The Spurs showed no hangover from a 30-point road loss to Golden State on Monday while improving to 25-0 at home.
Thunder 126, Timberwolves 123
Enes Kanter scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds off the bench to lead Oklahoma City to a victory over Minnesota.
The Thunder won for the ninth time in 10 games and extended their winning streak over the Timberwolves to 10 games. Oklahoma City has won 24 of the past 27 meetings against Minnesota.
Clippers 85, Hawks 83
Jamal Crawford scored 21 points off the bench, and DeAndre Jordan grabbed 19 rebounds as Los Angeles won at Atlanta for the first time in seven tries.
Jordan threw down a dunk with 15.2 seconds left off a pass from Chris Paul to put the Clippers ahead, and Crawford made two free throws with 7.6 seconds remaining.
Jazz 102, Hornets 73
Rodney Hood scored 24 points and forward Gordon Hayward added 22 points as Utah topped Charlotte.
Hood hit eight of 16 shots, including four from 3-point range, as the Jazz avenged their 124-119 loss on Jan. 18 in Charlotte. Hayward hit nine of 14 shots and grabbed seven rebounds in the win.
Kemba Walker led the Hornets with 15 points, a very quiet night compared to the franchise-high 52 points he threw in against the Jazz last week in Charlotte. The Hornets fell for the ninth consecutive visit to Utah.
