On behalf of Emir of Makkah and Adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishal Bin Majed opened on Wednesday the refurbished seafront in the southern Jeddah Corniche in the presence Jeddah Mayor Hani Aburass and other officials. The 3-km seafront, known as Shati Al-Saif, covering a total area of 350,000 square meters, was built at a cost of SR70.25 million. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Mishal said Jeddah city, which is called the "Bride of the Red Sea," would have refurbished 50 km Corniche in the near future to give the city's dwellers an extremely suitable location for recreation and enjoyment from the hurly-burly of city life. "The new seafront project will have all the utility services and recreational facilities, and these should be preserved in a way maintaining their beauty and fitness to receive the visitors," he said. The seafront was equipped with all the necessary recreational facilities for sports and recreation, as well as with public utilities, including self-operating smart toilets. There are several amusement parks, gardens, places for fishing, picnic areas, beautiful monuments and squares, bronze sculptures and artworks, in addition to international hotels, restaurants and mosques along Jeddah Corniche that stretches more than 100 kilometers.
