Capt. Reema has gained a big fan base on new media, as well as traditional media. Capt. Reema, who is known for her segment on Rotana Khalijiyah where she addresses sports in the Arabian Gulf, said her favorite new media application was Snapchat. "I have Twitter and Instagram accounts but Snapchat gives a more personal experience between my fans and my views that I post in video format. It is a place for TV stars to reveal their daily life experiences," Reema said. The TV presenter started her media career on traditional media as a sports commentator. "My gift in this world is loving people and my blessing is people's love to me. My fan base is all based on love. My followers enjoy my life and my opinions as I share them. New media is an exciting world where everything is instant," she said. Reema said more social media applications, such as the live video streaming app Periscope, were coming out with new features. "Periscope is a real-time broadcasting application that will revolutionize traditional and new media. I am used to broadcasting live in a studio but Periscope combines the intimacy of new media and the exposure of traditional media all in one," she said. "My fans comment on my videos and send me private messages sometimes. I enjoy interacting with them and talking to them as if they were members of my family." She also said like any media star, she often faced harassment and even received obscene messages. "I just ignore any obscene and explicit messages. They are just trolls who will not harm me or affect me in any way."
