“O J?bir, the first thing Allah created was the light of your Prophet from His light” This is another serious and important issue which has divided the Muslim Ummah and has taken them far away from the true path of Islam. A group has been established on the basis of this saying who claim that the Prophet Mohammad's (peace be upon him) creation is from the light of Allah, The Almighty. This saying is nowhere mentioned in the authentic books of Ahadith nor is it mentioned by any authentic scholar. On the contrary, this Hadith also falls in the list of fabricated Ahadith as described by Allama Abul Hasnat Abdul Haiy Luckhnowi (Al-Athaar Al Marfoo'a fil-Akhbar Al-Mozouah and, Sheikh Ismail Bin Mohammed Al-Ajlouni and Allama Albani is in his famous book “Ahadith Al Zaeefa wal Mozouah” and others. In the fabricated Hadith it is said, “O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for your sake, tell me of the first thing Allah created before all things?' He said, ‘O J?bir, the first thing Allah created was the light of your Prophet from His light, and that light remained lit in the midst of His Power for as long as He wished, and there was not, at that time, a tablet or a pen or a paradise or a fire or an angel or a heaven or an earth or a sun or a moon or a jinn or a man. And when Allah wished to create the creation, he divided that Light into four parts and from the first He made the Pen, from the second the Tablet, from the third the Throne, and then he divided the fourth [part] into four [other] parts and from the first he created the bearers of the Throne, from the second the Throne (Kurs?), from the third the rest of the angels. Then He divided the fourth into four other parts and created from the first the heavens, and from the second the earth, and from the third the Paradise and the Fire, and then he divided the fourth into four parts and created from the first the light of the believers' sight, and from the second the light of their hearts which is the knowledge of Allah, and from the third the light of their inner harmony (‘Uns) which is the Tawheed, ‘There is no god but Allah and Mu?ammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah, etc.” This saying contradicts the sayings of Allah and authentic narrations of our Beloved Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him). Allah said, “Say (O Muhammad), “I am only a man like you. It has been revealed to me that your Ilâh (God) is One Ilâh (God - i.e. Allah). So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord.” (Qur'an,18:110) Therefore, if a person believes that Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) is created from the light of Allah is certainly a blasphemer! Allah said in the Qur'an, “There is nothing like Him; and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.” (Qur'an, 42:11) The Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was asked the following question: Here in Pakistan the scholars of the Barailawi sect believe that the Prophet (peace be upon him) cast no shadow, which indicates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was not human. Is this Hadith Saheeh which says that the Prophet (peace be upon him) had no shadow? They replied that this view is false and goes against the texts of the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah, which indicates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was human and did not differ in his human make-up from other people. He had a shadow like any other human. The Prophethood with which Allah honored him did not alter the fact that he was human as Allah had created him - with a father and mother. As Allah said, “Say (O Muhammad), “I am only a man like you. It has been revealed to me that your Ilâh (God) is One Ilâh (God, i.e. Allah). So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord.” (Qur'an,18:110) “Their Messengers said to them: We are no more than human beings like you.” (Qur'an,14:11) Thus, the report that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was created from the light of Allah is a fabricated Hadith.
