Many drivers and passengers become the victims of high speeds and poor decision-making on the roads. The weekend witnessed painful traffic accidents in different regions of the Kingdom. Civil Defense men used iron scissors to cut the mangled metal and remove the bodies of the victims from the mangled car wrecks. On Taif-Riyadh Road, six people died on Tuesday near Al-Hufairah town as a result of a collision between their vehicle and a truck carrying iron poles. The family was on their way to a wedding of one of their relatives when the collision took place. According to eyewitness accounts, the truck carrying several tons of iron had moved from a gas station and its driver found himself directly in front of the car carrying the family. The car impacted with the truck and became lodged underneath the truck. Five of the six family members died on impact and an infant later died after being taken to Dhulam Health Center. The dead in the accident include the husband, wife, their three children and the wife's brother. Meanwhile on Al-Wajh-Dhiba Road, three people died and two others were injured seriously after a terrible collision between two cars. The accident resulted in closure of the road for more than two hours. Sources said the speeding and poorly timed overtaking were the causes of the accident. In a third accident that took place on Madina-Faiha Road, an 18-year-old male died when his car collided with another vehicle carrying two people. The passengers in the other vehicle were injured in the accident. Another motorist was injured in a collision that took place 30 kilometers from the previous accident. One man died and four others were injured at dawn Wednesday when a car collided with another on Shu'aiba Road. Civil Defense teams removed the body of the dead man from the twisted car wreck. Traffic police sources said the accident was due to speeding as a result of which the driver lost control of his vehicle near a dangerous curve. Meantime, a truck carrying cars and coming from Qatar towards Syria overturned. As a result the driver was trapped. Civil Defense teams were able to remove him from the driver's cabin.
