Khawar ton in vain; Crown, Saudi XI triumph

JEDDAH — Crown Steel and Al-Saudi XI won their respective matches in the Premier 35 overs event, while AMI Juffali, APF, Nestle Milo, Jotun Paints, Contraco and Waqas Malik won in the Afternoon T20 of the tournaments sponsored and organized by WPCA.
Premier 35 overs
Crown Steel defeated MCC by 43 runs. Crown Steel piled up 290-7. Skipper Shafiq hammered 69 in 51 balls, Waqas Ausaf 33, Nadeem Amin 57 in 31 balls, Imran Azam unbeaten 43 and Ejaz Sagheer unbeaten 19. Aijaz took 3-67 and Shakeel 2-59.
MCC, in chase, was bowled out 247. Aijaz scored 55 and Khawar Sohail blasted 129 in 79 balls studded with 12 fours and 5 sixes. The two added 150 in 125 balls after they joined hands when it was 75 for 3. Shoaib Ali took 4-40 and Mortaza 3-49.
Al-Saudi XI downed AOT by 6 wickets. AOT was bowled out for 190. Qaisar Latif top scored with 43, Ilyas 27, Rafiq 27, Faisal Mahmood 18 and Imran Yusuf 18. Nadeem Saad took 3-53, Fouad Shams 3-56 and Munzir 2-25.
Al-Saudi XI, in reply, took 125 balls to reach 191-4, thanks to Fouad Shams who made 38 and added 77 with Mazhar Abbasi (28). Mohammad Nadeem top scored with 57 in 33 balls and Humayun contributed an unbeaten 40. Imran Yusuf took 2-61.
Afternoon T20
AMI Juffali thrashed Thales Group by 5 wickets. Thales Group, opting to bat, was restricted to 99 for 8. Anas Malik top scored with 40 and Owais made 15. Asif took 2-0.
AMI Juffali, in chase, got to the victory target of 101 for 5 in 72 balls. Thanks to Moon Shah making 28, Nadeem 21 and Usman Gafoor unbeaten 18. Anas Malik got 2-17 and Owais 2-33.
APF beat AGA by 22 runs. APF piled up 172 through Siddique (37), Gulzar (41), Adnana (15) and Saqib (20). Humayun grabbed 3-40, Noor 3-42 and Mohammed Jaan 2-26.
AGA, in reply, was stranded at 150-4. Muzammil stroked 58, Mohammad Jaan unbeaten 32 and Humayun 26. Ashraf took 3-27.
Nestle Milo had the last laugh against Marine Services by 18 runs. Nestle Milo, using the track first, racked up 190-3. Bilal Malik hit 37 and Fayyaz 55. They two added 101 for the opening stand. Later, Sher Bahadur made 54 in 24 balls and Mohammad Azeem unbeaten 24.
Marine Services, in response, lost wickets at regular intervals to be stranded at 172-9. Mohammad Yasser scored 32, Majid 50 in 28 balls, Naseer unbeaten 18 and Moiz 16. Usama Amjad, on debut, took 2-32, Bilal Malik 2-34 and Ehsan Noni 2-43.
Jotun Paints thrashed Zultrack by 7 wickets. Zultrack posted 151-4, thanks to Mohsin scoring 60 in 52 balls, Abdurehman Shah 18, Qayam Khan unbeaten 21 and Subbayal unbeaten 19. Imran got 2-36. Jotun Paints responded with 152-3 in 105 balls to win by 7 wickets as Shabbir top scored with 60 in 39 balls, Shafeeq Ahmed 34 and Mohammad Shafeeq unbeaten 18.
Contraco edged past Hyderabad Strikers by 5 wickets. Hyderabad Strikers, batting first, was bowled out for 145. Afroz scored 31 and Sohail 20. Shahbaz got 3-18 and Aqeel 2-39. Contraco, in reply, reached 146-5 in 102 balls, thanks to Bilal who made 33, Amir 29 and Yaseen unbeaten 32. Akram Ali grabbed 3-34 and Afroz 2-46.
Waqas Malik XI humbled NAI Juffali by 89 days. Waqas Malik began disastrously to be 14 for 4. Haroon Rana took the reign in his hand to smash 85 in 40 balls with 12 fours and a six. He added a valuable 142 for the 5th wicket in 76 balls with Fareed, who remained unbeaten on 54 in 36 balls to get the final tally of 168. Sarfaraz took 3-14 and Farzan 2-42.
NAI Juffali, in reply, was bundled out for 79 with the double figure achievers were Afzal 17 and Sardar (10). Waqas Malik scalped 3-8, Abdur Razzaq 3-20 and Junaid 2-16.
