The Traffic Department in Al-Jouf recorded 54 violations against school buses and transport services for students and teachers. Director of Traffic in Qurayyat Col. Abdulaziz Al-Biraithi said the department organized an inspection campaign on all school buses to ensure that all health and safety procedures are followed. The violations include removing car seats, tinted windows, unlicensed vehicles and others. All violators will face harsh punishments as they were endangering to the lives of the passengers. Fuel truck overturns on Asir highway ABHA — A fuel truck toppled over on Khamis Mushayt-Riyadh Highway, Asir Civil Defense reported. The Civil Defense evacuated all buildings, cut off electricity and shut down two gas stations in the area as a precautionary measure before plugging the gas leak. Paramedics took the driver of the truck to hospital with multiple injuries. Newborn found abandoned in car JEDDAH — A newborn girl was found abandoned in a dilapidated car in Bani Malik district of Jeddah on Thursday, Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said. A number of citizens said they heard cries and when they peered into the dilapidated car they found a newborn girl, still covered in blood. Police took the girl to the local hospital and the case was forwarded to the pertinent authority. Minor arrested for car break-in MAKKAH — Police have arrested a minor on charges of theft. Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi said police officers were on patrol when they saw a 10-year-old boy standing near a vehicle with a crowbar in his hand. The boy, from an African nationality, threw the crowbar at the police officers when he saw them and attempted to escape. After police officers gave chase and arrested the boy, he admitted that he had broken the vehicle's windows and stolen a mobile phone and other valuables inside. Drugs, cash seized from Saudi driver JEDDAH — Police seized amphetamine pills and blocks of hashish from a Saudi motorist near Al-Shumaisi checkpoint. Police officers manning the checkpoint grew suspicious of a vehicle that drove past. The officers followed the vehicle and asked its driver to stop. There was a Saudi driver and a Saudi passenger in the vehicle. On inspecting the vehicle police found seven blocks of hashish, 376 amphetamine pills and SR135,000 in cash. The driver and his passenger were arrested and their cases was forwarded to the pertinent authority.
