Rabiah, minister of commerce and industry, set up a ten-member Board of Directors, the first to be nominated, of the Saudi Contractors Commission on Sunday. The formation of the commission and setting up of the board is in order to develop the contractors sector while also raising the standards in the Kingdom, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). This decision is in line with the Council of Ministers' Sept. 7 decision to organize a Commission for the contractors. The Council's decision stipulated that the board members ought to be people concerned with the contracting profession. The Council also issued directives to all government authorities not to sign contracts with any contractor unless he is a member of the Commission. In the procedures for awarding contracts, the contractor should present proof that he is a member of the Commission. The ten board members are: Dr. Ahmed Othman Al-Qasabi, Osama Hassan Al-Afaliq, Saeed Muhammad Al-Zahrani, Tariq Muhammad Al-Fouzan, Abdulkareem Amer Mustafa, Fahd Muhammad Al-Hammadi, Muaadh Muhammad Al-Sehaibani, Muammar Sajdi Al-Atawi, Yasser Abdulrahman Al-Duhaim and Yasser Abdulaziz Al-Haqbani. — SG/SPA
