King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC) in Makkah will be moved to Al-Shumaisi, outside the boundaries of the Holy Haram, because the hospital has not been able to employ highly-specialized doctors and nurses. The new medical city will be built over an area of two million square meters, with room for future expansion, sources said. The city has so far cost SR530 million. The sources said the hospital needs staff who have specialized training in tumors, heart conditions and intensive care units. They said the new city will provide advanced medical services in rare specializations to citizens in Makkah, Jeddah, Taif and Madina. The sources added that the existing hospital offers gynecology and obstetrics services to patients in Makkah. The move is also expected to make life easier for non-Muslim staff because they will have direct access to management officials. KAMC consists of three hospitals and 10 Medical centers. KAMC is a Ministry of Health Hospital.
