Right winger Michael Frolik also scored for Calgary, while goalie Karri Ramo stopped 34 shots. Monahan's winner came during a two-on-two rush when he took a pass from defenseman T.J. Brodie and fired just under the crossbar for his sixth goal of the season. Capitals right winger Jay Beagle had tied the score with 4:48 left in regulation. Center Michael Latta also scored for Washington, while Philipp Grubauer made 26 saves. Goalie Thomas Greiss made 24 saves for his fifth victory as the Islanders (9-6-3) earned their second win in three games. The Ducks (5-8-4) lost their third in a row. The Islanders took a 1-0 lead in the first period when Brock Nelson converted a wrist shot, with right winger Cal Clutterbuck adding a second period effort. The Ducks narrowed their deficit to 2-1 in the second by exploiting a 5-on-3 power play, with right winger Corey Perry poking the puck off goalie Thomas Greiss's chest before Nielsen's double. — Reuters
