JEDDAH — The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) is organizing an Inter-City Mega Event at the WPCA Eskan Grounds here Friday (Nov. 13). The one-day tourney has been named Hamid Rasheed Memorial Inter-City Mega Event, in memory of the late Pakistan International School Jeddah (English Section) official who passed away recently. He was also active in WPCA and SCC. Four teams will be visiting Jeddah to play a total of eight T20 matches. There will be around 300 people involved — including players, officials, umpires and commentators. RCA from Riyadh is sending two teams, while MCL from Madinah and JRCA from Jazan will send one each. WPCA is queuing up four teams — WPCA Chairman XI, WPCA President's XI, WPCA Vice President's XI and WPCA Committee XI. Four matches, involving all the eight teams, will be played in the morning session. The afternoon session will see the winner of Match 1 take on the winner of Match 4, while the winner of Match 3 will face Match 2 winner. The runner-up teams will then play each, while two top teams in terms of points and net run-rate will be declared winners. Special kits, displaying sponsors name, have been made for the event. For the first time pink balls will be used in the Kingdom. Among the sponsors are: Crown Steel, Nesma Holding, Pepsi Beverages, Tata Motors, Emper Perfumes, Aafaq Perfumes, Modern Pioneer Company, Thales Group, Al-Asasiyah Group and Sports Track. There will be prizes in the form of gifts, cups and medals. Organizers are bracing for a large crowd. A match will also be played between Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF) and Pakistan Consulate. It is being sponsored by Saudi Cricket Centre. (SCC).
