Busan is the second largest city in South Korea and home to one of the largest ports in the country. It is a growing financial hub and known for numerous tourist attractions. There are a number of sites that you must visit when in Busan:
Busan Cinema Center: Some 331 films have been filmed in the past 13 years in Busan which is also home to an annual international film festival. This city is the preferred choice for many filmmakers—around 40 films are shot in Busan each year. Tourists are also able to visit Busan Cinema.
Dongbaek Island: This land area was a separate island close to Busan, but is now part of the mainland. The island is home to a park which has a statue and a monument of Choe Chiwon, a leading scholar from the Silla dynasty that ruled Korea in the past. There is also a statue of a mermaid. You can also visit the Nurimaru APEC House where members of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meet.
The United Nations Memorial Cemetery: This is another site that must to be visited and is the resting place for 2,300 soldiers who died in the Korean War. This is the only UN cemetery in the world.
Gamcheon Culture Village: This is a small village in Busan that is often visited by tourists because it took refugees in during the Korean War. Some Koreans still live here. The village is known as the "Santorini of Korea" because the small houses are located on a hillside overlooking the ocean. Houses and small streets in this village are colorful and visitors will easily find gift shops selling traditional items.
Busan Museum of Art: This museum is home to several art exhibitions and collections of great interest.
Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO): This is a large convention and exhibition center that hosts many events and is the perfect venue for local and international concerts. Several business conferences are also held here.
Geumgang Park: This is a large park that has several attractions such as the Busan Fork Arts Centre.
Bokcheon-Dong Ancient Tombs and Museum: Visitors can learn more about the three old Korean Kingdoms and their culture.
Hurshimchung Spa: This is one of the largest magnesium spas in Asia and can fit 3,000 guests at one time. It includes hot, lukewarm and cool baths, fountains, mud baths, massages, exfoliation and exercise rooms.
