Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The members of Kashmir Committee (KC) Jeddah met to mark Kashmir Black Day in Saudi Arabia and express their solidarity with Kashmiri brothers at the consulate on Monday. According to the Pakistan Consulate General here, the newly appointed Consul General Shehryar Akber Khan presided over the meeting. The committee expressed concern on the Indian government's policy of repression in occupied territories and the constant denial of inalienable rights including the right of self determination. During the meeting members unanimously adopted a resolution which underscored that in the absence of right of self determination, it was not possible to enjoy any other rights as recognized international human rights and humanitarian law. The committee plans to refer the new resolution to the OIC on Nov. 2, with a photo exhibition on the present condition under Indian occupation, they added. The resolution also commended Pakistan for its unconditional political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri struggle and denounced continued Indian occupation of the state of Kashmir. It called on India to stop gross and systematic human rights violations of the Kashmiri people and allow international human rights and humanitarian organization an unhindered access to the occupied state. The resolution expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for their consistent support to the Kashmiri struggle. The committee thanked Shehryar Akber and the consulate for taking initiative and extending support to the Kashmir cause.
