Syed Mussarat Khalil Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The international community must take serious note of the stubborn Indian position on setting conditions for dialogue appealed the newly formed Kashmir Committee Jeddah at a meeting held at the residence of Consul General of Pakistan Aftab Ahmed Khokher. Deputy Consul General Asif Hassan Memon, members of the Kashmir committee including Mohammed Masood Ahmed Puri, chairman, Munir Gondal, general secretary, Mohammed Amil Usmani, media and publicity secretary, Amir Ghani Mir, Dr. Mujahid Zafar, Ghulam Nabi Butt, Mohammed Arif Khan, Mohammed Farooq Rai, Nasser Iqbal Sardar Khan, Pervez Yousuf Masih, Sardar Mohammed Iqbal Yousuf and number of Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF) members attended the meeting. Consul General Khokher, who presided over the gathering, said Kashmiris should have the right to decide about their fate according to the United Nations charter that clearly recognizes inalienable right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people. In the meeting the members expressed sheer disappointment at the cancellation of a scheduled meeting between the National Security Advisers of Pakistan and India due to New Delhi's intransigence. They condemned the statement made by the India's Minister for External Affairs putting forth pre-conditions for talks with Pakistan at the level of National Security Advisers. The members also condemned the condition of the Indian government to cancel the invitation extended by High Commissioner of Pakistan, New Delhi, to the Kashmiri Hurriyat leadership to a reception on Aug. 23, which was in line with the practice and tradition of the past many years. They condemned further the continued violations at the Line of Control and Working Boundary by the Indian occupied forces, which has resulted in loss of innocent lives. The members expressed solidarity and sympathies with bereaved families. The members appreciated Pakistan's clear position on not accepting any conditions for National Security Advisers' talks in order to engage in sincere and serious dialogue with India to resolve all outstanding issues including Kashmir. The meeting emphasized the importance of engaging the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the dialogue process and called on the international community particularly Muslim Ummah as well as media to highlight atrocities of the Indian occupied forces while expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting commended Pakistan for its unconditional political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri struggle.
