The Prince Salman Center for Disability Research in Riyadh, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, is in the process of setting up a national laboratory for the early detection and prevention of diseases among newborn babies. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the center's Board of Trustees. The board's members reviewed a report on the plan and the progress made by hospitals which have signed a memorandum of understanding with the center in this regard. The hospitals have already screened 586,000 newborn babies and diagnosed 626 cases of probable disabilities. __
