To help others and raise awareness about donating blood, the female branch of the College of Business Administration (CBA) is hosting a Blood Donation Day today, in cooperation with the blood bank of King Faisal Specialist Hospital. The event will run from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. at the CBA's female branch in Sari Street in Jeddah. Maisaa Nassier, University Relations Representative at CBA, said: “We urge students, doctors and employees of CBA to donate and help those in need because it is their social and religious responsibility.” Nassier added that a goal of the college is to raise awareness about the importance of volunteer work. Maha Al-Jihani, a student at CBA, said that academic establishments are the ideal places to get all the blood groups and a high number of donors. She added that students have also contributed to setting up the event. Dr. Nadia Baeshen, Dean of the college's female branch, said the college was ready and fully-equipped to launch the campaign. “It is part of our academic duty to educate our students about their social responsibility, the importance of community service and volunteer work.” She said the day will raise awareness among young adults about saving the lives of people that may be lost during surgery or from accidents due to a shortage or lack of a rare blood type. Najeeb Yamani from King Faisal Hospital praised the college's effort. “Donating blood might be a simple thing but it is rewarding to think one might save someone's life just by giving a little blood. As Allah says: ‘To save one life is to save all humanity'. Islam tells us to preserve and protect human life. Donating blood is the most honorable way to accomplish this.” __
