The College of Business Administration (CBA) held an exhibition on Dec. 12 and 13 to showcase the best advertisements created by their female marketing students. The work was the result of a competition held by CBA's marketing department. It was to allow students to apply what they had learned in the classroom, said Maissa Nassier, CBA's university relations representative. Maha Abdel Ghani, a lecturer in the marketing department, who came up with the idea, said she wanted to encourage creativity. “We are always encouraging our students to apply what they are learning in a creative way.” There were 11 contestants for the best advertisement award. Each student selected a new non-existent product which they wanted to introduce through their advertisement. A committee of marketing instructors evaluated the students' designs and nominated the three best advertisements. The three winners were selected for their creative designs and implementation of their skills training. Shahad Haytham Nasseir won first place; Shahad Faisal Al-Fasis came in second; while third place went to Effat Abdulrahman Tashkandi. The event was sponsored by Abdulwahed Trading, the official retailer of Nikon in Saudi Arabia. The three winners were each awarded a Nikon digital camera for their efforts. Abdel Ghani said that students must have practical experience. She accommodated all students who showed an interest in taking part. She said she was happy with the outcome of the competition. “I have great expectations of my students and I am sure they will make it big somewhere someday.” __
