The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) has backtracked on its weather forecast, saying that there will be no rain for five days this week over Jeddah. The PME had earlier forecast rain for Monday. It said the weather forecast for Monday includes dust in the air and maximum and minimum temperatures of 36 and 23 degrees Centigrade respectively. It will be partially cloudy on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Jeddah. Minimum temperatures will be in the range of 22 to 23 degrees Centigrade and maximum temperatures will range between 34 and 36 degrees Centigrade. Earlier this week, the PME forecast rain over the Bride of the Red Sea on Monday, close to the second anniversary of the Jeddah flood disaster. The PME also forecast active surface winds over parts of the west of the Kingdom. Poor visibility was also forecast for the northern parts due to the dust raised between Makkah and Madina, especially over the expressways and open areas. However, Dr. Mansour Bin Atiyah Al-Mazroui, head of King Abdulaziz University's Meteorology Department, said climatic evidence indicates there will be light rainfall throughout Makkah this week. A meteorological model predicts rain clouds will form over the Red Sea and eastern Sudan which will result in light to moderate rainfall over parts of the coast including Jeddah, he said. However, Al-Mazroui admits these predictions change from day to day depending on the changing weather elements. __
