Mangoda, Tan, Reformado and Jintarat steal the show
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 02 - 11 - 2011

Another four bowlers caught attention on the next two sessions of FEDBG-FMBL event with Edris Mangoda and Joy Tan hitting the spotlight by remarkably leading D'Mountaineers and Petromin Express in the third week, while Ric Reformado and Fatima Jintarat guiding Lance & 3rdy and Alley Mc Bowl team in humbling separate rivals in the fourth week of the Friday Morning Bowling League 11th conference at the Bowling City here.
Playing under the banner of D'Mountaineers, Mangoda led the Joel Nidoy-captained squad with superlative 679 that aligned him to the Bowler of the Week winners. Such brilliant performance turned out instrumental for Rudy Jamon-managed Mountaineers' in rocking the Pin Rockers in an 18-2-point settlement with the earlier sweeping the scratch sets.
The match should have been clean slate for Mountaineers but Pin Rockers escaped Game 2 on handicapped set. Mangoda piloted Mountaineers with outstanding games of 230, 239 and 210 with Rudy Jamon greatly backing up with 618, followed by Nidoy at 606. Ding dela Rosa, Aisah Silabay and Robert Stone collected a total of 1,564 to complete Mountaineers' 3,467-3,298 domination of the Rudy Valnzuela-headed Pin Rockers whose best defender was Romy Bunagan at 614.
Petromin Express also emerged victorious when Joy Tan planked top scorer Jett Santos (620) with her 619 that put down Shawly Computers in a 16-4 submission. Tan started strong with 230 then leveraged with 176 and 212 to be the Lady Bowler of the Week.
The match was actually 1-1 after two games with Arnel Bautista, Ruel Perez and Luis Pacubas saving 4 points for the Nestor Sa?osa-skippered Shawly Computers in Game 2. But with Tan and Santos sustaining their leadership, Paolo Allego, Alex Mallari, Rolly Vistal and team head Marlon Heredia shared well to rout Shawly in the third game 1,205-1,045 and force to sign a marginal finish at 3,410-3,186.
Bowlers then witnessed the top-caliber bowlers show when team chief Ric Reformado supremely guided Lance & 3rdy against Petromin Express and Jintarat led in salvaging the Serge Rivera-captained Starframes from bleak session at the hands of BCT Crimped Ben. Reformado, with his simplified bowling style won the Bowler of the Week honor with total scratch series of 660 which the former Philippine team member decorated with record-setting 279 in Game 1.
Lance & 3rdy which also featured team manager Evelyn Santoc and daughter Shirley Sagmit, was clearly in control of the match taking Games 1 and 2, but Petromin Express resisted and with Rolly Vistal at the helm took the last game to ink the match at 16-4 (3,343-3,286).
Balance scoring gave Starframes the first 4 points in Game 1 when BCT Crimped Ben team head Emil Payongayong, who sizzled with 259, got insufficient help from teammates resulting in a slight disadvantage (1,187-1,153). But in the second game BCT bowled better and got the upper hand at 1,193-1,113 with Benj Espinosa at the helm. Starframes got the scratch set (1,020-1,011) in the last game but BCT scored higher on handicapped set at 1,171-1,167 to be the consequential winner of the match at 14-6 (3,517-3,467).
Albeit losing the match, Starframes got consoled when Jintarat was named lady Bowler of the Week with her 614 from games of 199, 218 and 197. Helping Jintarat best was Archie Alcantara with 614, while Payongayong, Espinosa and Dennis Alvarado lifted Crimped Ben with 641, 618 and 602.
