JS Seo, DJ Auto Parts, UCB keep winning in Al-Baik tennis
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 31 - 10 - 2011

JS Seo dominated Group 1 of the LMX event as it notched its third straight win by thumping team Saudia Catering, DJ Auto Parts continued to lord it over in B2 Category by a near shut-out of team Shelter-2, in the HMX event, UCB of Ulysses Bartolata shared the lead with JBTP-Odracir, with both having an impressive 2-0 record, in the 3rd Al-Baik Team Tennis Tournament at the Al-Bilad Hotel and Sheraton Hotel tennis courts.
With its back against the wall, JS Seo never lost hope as it salvaged a losing match by turning the tables against Saudia Catering via the point system. Saudia Catering's Jham and Dr. Mounir went past Dante Nebrida and Ronald Mercado at 8-6 and Arnold-Nick scored another 8-6 win over Eusebio Castillo-Walid Nerio, thus racing ahead at 2-0 to set for the kill.
Undaunted, a never-say-die JS Seo came alive with veteran Noel De Guzman and Dennis Cruz cruising past Archie-Rafael with a convincing 8-4 win. Still trailing at 1-2, JS Seo tied the match at 2-2 with the ever dependable duo of Jun Atienza and Noel Manzano responding with an easy 8-0 win over Noor-Johnny for match via points at 28-20.
In the B2 Division, DJ Auto Parts continued to lead the pack as it posted its second win over a hard-nut-to-crack Shelter-2. DJ Auto Parts raced to an early 2-0 set lead with Ahmed-Marlon Ordono drawing first blood by beating Melvin-Joel M. with an 8-5 score, followed by an 8-4 win by Toby-Ricky Torres over Jojo-Rey Polintan to set a commanding lead at 2 set to nil. Not giving up, Shelter team captain Omar Magno teamed with Benny Oandasan to win via a nerve-raking 8-7 tie-break over Ruben-Noor Panizales that stopped DJ Auto's momentum. Shelter leveled the match at 2-2 as Jologs-Jun Inotantes' nailed the must-win 4th set, but ran short of required points as they were forced into a tiebreaker by Ben-Romeo to hand the win over to DJ Auto Parts at 30-25.
In Category HMX, teams UCB and JBTP-OdraciR both shared 2-0 win-loss cards as they beat separate opponents over the week. UCB scored a 2-1 victory over JIS-Al-Shuman on wins by Loy Escabusa-Allan Beltran over Sanny Valencia-Cesar Panti (8-1) and Fred Masangkay-Cocoy Clapano against Eloy Torres-Noel Panti at tie-break. Team JBTP-OdraciR won in similar fashion against team JCC with Venus Layoso-Ricky Mediavillo winning over Maan-Carl and Michael Marquez-Jun Miguel against Farsi-Jeck Olaguer both on an 8-6 score.
