Jollibee, Saudi Oger and Lacoste make quarterfinals

JEDDAH: Vying for the better ranking, Jollibee crushed Saudi Oger 4-1 to top their group in Category LMX, while JRTC-4 controlled the deciding set to win over Lacoste-JBTP in Category B2 and finish in Rank 2 of their group, that completed the quarterfinal cast of the 1st Top Cup Team Tennis Challenge 2011.
Heads up play by Housam/Ramzi put Jollibee in the driver's seat with an 8-5 win over Tayser J/M. Kawam, and continued to steamroll up to the second set with Edward/Carmelo Nery pounding Mark/Rafiq with an 8-2 score. Unrattled, Saudi Oger came alive in the crucial third set as August/Tonton Pana blanked Duncan/Jack Walsh with an 8-0 win – that went naught as Saudi Oger's Willie/Kemp gave up on default to concede to team Jollibee's Zaldy/Edwin Potestad for the match clincher at 3-1. Ravaging for more points, Daryl/Ramon Monterde cruised over Moidu/Jun A. with an easy 8-1 win, catapulting team Jollibee to the top spot in their group, and relegating team Saudi Oger to rank No. 3 in the quarterfinals of Category LMX.
In the B2 Category, team JRTC-4 had to rely on the heroics of Ano/Alimbasr Umpa and Hani/Souhail Hafez to win in identical sets of 8-5 against Allan/Lito and Conrad/Ronnie of team Lacoste-JBTP to wrap up and secure rank 2 on points, for the group leadership. Although Alex/Hassan lost to Andrew/Ramon 4-8 in the third set, JRTC's Ayman/Nour triumped over Ador/Arnel for the match clincher in fourth set, but dropped the no-bearing fifth set with Nash/Amen losing to Jun/Cel at 2-8. The loss relegated team Lacoste-JBTP to rank 3 in their group.
Quarterfinals match-ups in Category C: Shelter vs. JRTC-2, Jollibee-1 vs. Friday Bulls, Pepsi Bugshan-SCTC vs. Modern Areez and JRTC-1 vs. 1901-SPTC.
Category B2: Pepsi Bugshan-SCTC vs. Shelter-2, Jollibee-2 vs. 1901-SPTC, JIS-1 vs. JRTC-4 and JRTC-3 vs. Lacoste-JBTP.
Category LMX: Jollibee-3 vs. ASTEC, Toyota JACS Accessories vs. JRTC-6, JRTC-5 vs. Saudi Oger-1 and Lacooste-JBTP vs. JS SEO.
