Saudi Gazette The Saudi National Water Company has announced its preparations to provide an inflow of 600,000 cubic meters of water to Makkah and its outskirts daily to serve this year's pilgrims and visitors of the Holy House of Allah. This amount of pumped water by the company will be an addition to the water currently available in the present tanks and water storages in Makkah. Engineer Abdullah bin Ahmad Hasanain, head of the unit of the National Water Company in Makkah said that the company is keen on ensuring continuous water supply to the pilgrims during their journey in and around Makkah to perform their Haj rituals with ease. He is optimistic that the pilgrims this year can expect to experience no water shortages. The National Water Company stated that it is fully prepared to carry out its responsibilities and a multitude of tasks that include filling water tanks, maintaining bathrooms, septic pipes and tanks, supplying water for the air-conditions of the tents in Mina, and backing the fire departments with sufficient water. The pumping of the 600,000 cubic meters of water to the holy sites will start on the 6th day of Dhul Hajja, corresponding to Nov. 2. As part of the implementation and maintenance plan, teams in Mina are ready to repair any faults in the system if problems should arise and in case of emergencies all round the clock. In addition, all bathrooms in the holy sites have been numbered to facilitate the reporting of any problems. If anyone notices damage or water shortage in any of the bathrooms, the National Water Company can be contacted and informed of the number of the bathroom that requires immediate attention. Hasanain warns the managers of the tents in Mina against using water hoses designated for the fire department to clean their tents. He added that this awful practice can deplete the water supply needed in case of fires. __
