New entrant Munch Bakery edged the experienced Pakistan International School Jeddah (PISJ) Old Students-XI by four runs, while Peeran-XI downed Cougar Lubricants by three runs in Division-I afternoon matches sponsored by ACE Tours & Travels and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association (JCA) here recently. In the first match Munch Bakery, batting first, scored 172-5 in its quota of overs. Openers Saleem and Zain were the top scorers. Osman contributed 14 runs, Rana Shahzad 11 and Abaad 10. Zeeshan claimed three wickets, while Imran had one wicket for the Old Students-XI. In reply PISJ could only score 168-6. Irfan made 50 runs, Maani 46 and Junaid 16. Abaad and Saleem bagged two wickets each, while Shahid bagged a wicket for Munch. In the other match Peeran-XI scored 174-8 in 18 overs. Nadeem top-scored with 27 runs. Others who contributed were Kamran 22, Tanveer 21 not out, Sifarish 19, Naseer 18 and Haneef Afsar 10. Sheikh Bahadur 3-52, Afsar 2-22 and Jahangir 2-19 were among the wickets for Cougar. In reply Cougar Lubricants fell short by three runs when it ran out of overs at 171-8 after 18 overs. Afsar scored 55 runs, Shahbaz 53, Omar 33 and Munir Khan 14. Nadeem had 2-48, Nazim 1-23, Haneef 1-17 and Sarfaraz 1-6 for Peeran-XI. In a match played in an earlier round Munch Bakery beat Peeran-XI by six runs, while Usman-XI beat PISJ Old Boys-XI by five wickets.
