By Faheem Al-Hamid
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 10 - 2011

The King Abdullah International Award for Translation has helped to promote dialogue and moderation around the world, according to Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Prince Abdul Aziz is also a member of King Abdul Aziz Public Library's Board of Directors and Chairman of the award's Council of Trustees.
The awards will be handed over to the winners on Tuesday in Beijing, China.
The ceremony in China will ensure more translations in humanities and science in Saudi Arabia and China. It will also promote relations between the two countries, he added.
Yahya Bin Abdul Kareem Al-Zaid, Saudi ambassador to China, said that the Chinese government appreciates the King's awards. The honoring of the Chinese academic Zhong Jikun during the ceremony will encourage Chinese academics and researchers to take an interest in Arabic, increase Arabic-Chinese translations and see more Arabic classes taught at Chinese universities.
Yang Honglin, Chinese ambassador to Saudi Arabia, said he was delighted that the Chinese capital was hosting the awards ceremony. This demonstrated the strong Saudi-Chinese relations in commercial, scientific and cultural fields.
