Northern Jeddah residents had their water supply cut off Sunday because the distribution from Al-Shuaiba was disrupted by the construction of a mayoralty rainwater drainage tunnel. There was severe crowding at water filling stations as a result. Abdullah Al-Assaf, the National Water Company's director in Jeddah, said the company is responsible for providing water tankers to the districts during this period. He urged residents to call the company's Service Center to request water tankers. The mayoralty project is disrupting supply from Al-Shuaiba, he said, adding that the lines must be converted. One line was converted and work is underway on the other one. The whole process will end in two weeks, he said. __
