Director of National Water Company in Jeddah Abdullah Al-Assaf said a SR50-million contract has been awarded to a contractor to stop leakage from Jeddah's water network and replace corroded pipes. He assured consumers that there will be no water supply cut during Ramadan and that the work will put an end to this problem. These solutions have proven to be effective in dealing with this problem, he added. Al-Assaf said a regular supply of water to all Jeddah districts has resulted in a significant drop in the number of water tankers in the city. He said completion of pumping facilities at the Al-Shu'aibah desalination plant and the use of 125-cubic-meter distribution tanks in Quwaizah District have helped solved the shortage problem in Jeddah, especially in the southern districts. The improvements are quite noticeable at distribution stations in Jeddah, which for the last three days have had no residents looking for water tankers at peak hours, he said.
