Training units functioning under the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) across the Kingdom can now accommodate 300,000 trainees of both the genders. The increase in the accommodation capacity of the training units was possible after the completion of 164 technical projects in all the regions at a total cost of SR7 billion, said Dr. Ali Al-Ghufais, TVTC Governor. He said King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has ordered the projects in order to create a wide base of skilled workers to localize these vocations at present fully occupied by foreigners. He said the localization of these vocations will result in employment of more than half a million Saudi job seekers. The governor stressed that a bright future awaits the blue-collar Saudis. Dr. Al-Ghufais made the comments Friday while participating in the second project of the “Messengers of Peace” at the Jeddah Historical Area. During the few past years, he said, the authority has made remarkable achievements manifested in the setting up of more than 240 training units including technical and telecommunication colleges and schools. __
