The Ministry of Labor has opened the door for recruitment of domestic workers from several countries including Yemen, said Dr. Mufarrij Bin Saad Al-Huqbani, Deputy Minister of Labor. Only male Yemeni workers would be recruited, he added, drawing attention to the fact that the ministry has allowed recruitment from Yemen, due to its status and citizens, who are characterized by efficiency, integrity and other good qualities. Al-Huqbani pointed out that the term “domestic workers” does not only refer to maids; it includes private male nurses, guards, cooks, gardeners, workers, drivers and other occupations for which visas are issued to the family head for work within the house or outside it. He said the term has been used to differentiate between those who work for individuals and those who work for public or private sector employers, on the basis of work permits.
