A campaign to vaccinate about 225,000 male and female students against measles in the Taif area is set to begin Saturday. All preparations have been made to launch the campaign in elementary, intermediate and secondary schools, said Sa'eed Al-Zahrani, spokesman of Taif Directorate of Health Affairs. There will be 230 field teams from health centers throughout Taif and its villages to vaccinate students, he said, adding that each team will include a doctor from a public health center. In the beginning of the five-week campaign, students at public and private schools, community schools, international schools, Holy Qur'an memorization schools, social-care centers and professional schools will be vaccinated, Al-Zahrani said. Parental consent is not needed because the effort is part of a national campaign that targets the eradication of measles, German measles and rubella, he added.
