Prince Sattam Bin Abdul Aziz, Acting Emir of Riyadh region, who directed the Saline Water Conversion Corporation and the National Water Company to work nonstop to fix broken water pipes, also directed the NWC to provide water tanks to the affected areas. Prince Sattam also directed the Riyadh Mayoralty to help the companies execute the work; in response, the mayoralty provided pumps and water tankers. “The process of fixing the broken pipes was carried out according to a plan involving different authorities that cooperated to deal with this problem,” said Sulaiman Bin Muhammad Al-Qanas, secretary general of Riyadh region and director general of Services at Riyadh Mayoralty. More than 6,000 water tanks have been distributed and Prince Sattam worked diligently to ensure that the problem was resolved, he added. Prince Sattam followed up with the companies when they were fixing the broken pipes and kept in touch with them via the telephone until they were fixed, Al-Qanas said. Prince Sattam also directed authorities to hold an urgent meeting with the heads of the water companies to determine why the pipes broke, accurately estimate the current condition of water lines in Riyadh and review the companies' plans to deal with similar cases in the future. __
