RIYADH: A plan to provide medical care for sick, elderly people in their homes in the city has been approved by the Riyadh Regional Council. In a session chaired by Prince Sattam Bin Abdul Aziz, Acting Emir of Riyadh Region and Acting Chairman of the Riyadh Regional Council, the council approved the plan of the Directorate of Health Affairs to create a home healthcare program for the elderly if they cannot visit a hospital. The decision will be made known to those who need it. Sulaiman Al-Qannass, Secretary General of the council, said the council reviewed and took decisions on reports presented by the preparatory committees that aim to upgrade education, health, economic services and other services. Al-Qannass said the most prominent subjects discussed by the council include directing the Riyadh Region Mayoralty to tighten its health supervision of bakeries and restaurants. Meanwhile, the council looked into road problems that occurred due to excavations by companies and establishments. The council decided to ask government authorities to force these companies to fill in and asphalt these areas. Al-Qannass said the session reviewed a Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) report on field tours of water and food factories and the measures taken against the violating factories, and it also discussed the brown-colored slimming pills the SFDA has found on the market and withdrawn. The SFDA has banned the import of these pills, as they are harmful to people's health. Al-Qannass welcomed the performance of the SFDA in this regard. Al-Qannass said the session reviewed a report of the Mayor of Riyadh Region on the performance of the team of inspectors tasked with monitoring shops that prepare and sell herbal preparations. The council lauded the performance of the secretary and team, urging them to intensify field inspections. Meanwhile, the Projects Center in Ar-Riyadh Development Authority made a visual presentation of the road network development program and the approved projects being carried out, particularly the expansion of the roads and the construction of bridges and tunnels, along with the development of the program for traffic management, the reduction of accidents and the improvement of traffic on the main roads. Prince Sattam issued directives for the completion of the projects.
