The Scientific Committee for the International Conference for Giftedness and Creativity has accepted 154 out of 270 scientific studies and working papers to be discussed in the gathering, which will be held from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1 in Jubail Al-Sinaia. The conference, under the patronage of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is being organized by King Faisal University, with the participation of 1,000 academics and specialists. Prof. Abdullah Bin Muhammad Al-Jughaiman, chairman of the event's Organizing Committee, said the working papers and studies have been evaluated carefully to select those that are the best and most distinctive. The approved working papers have been distributed according to the many themes of the conference, he added. In the giftedness-and-distinctiveness theme, participants will discuss methods of discovering talented people, guiding them, special programs for them, motivating them, organized self-education, and students with extraordinary dual capabilities. The practical-experience theme encompasses sports, academic and objective experiences. Prof. Al-Jughaiman said the distinctive scientist Prof. Kurt A. Heller, a pioneer in the field of educating talented people, would join the list of major speakers at the conference and that his attendance is a major boost to the event. Prof. Heller is a professor emeritus of Psychology at the Ludwig Maximilians University, located in Munich, Germany and the director of its Center for the Study of Giftedness. He has written or edited about 550 scientific publications, won international prizes and is widely acclaimed for his numerous contributions in this field throughout decades of scientific research and distinctive work.
