year-old detainee has appealed to the authorities to release her son because she claims he has been detained without trial for a year. He is being held at Buraidah's Social Observation Home, a detention center for juveniles. “He was arrested last Ramadan in Onaiza. Investigators told me he was a suspect in a case of theft because he was found near the crime scene. The main suspect has been released and my son, the second suspect, is still being held pending trial. He was not convicted, and he is now depressed,” the mother said. The mother urged the authorities to resolve her son's case. “The case was not referred to court for seven months. Then it was referred to Onaiza Court, where it stayed for a while, and then to the General Court in Buraidah where it's being processed currently,” she said. Fahd Al-Habdan, spokesman for Qassim Police, said Onaiza Police investigated the case at the time and charged the person in question, which required detention according to the law. The case is being considered by the court, he said.
