To ensure the smooth flow of traffic during Ramadan, Jeddah Traffic Department has mobilized all its personnel to cover all districts and focus on traffic bottlenecks, Maj. Gen. Hamid Muhammad Al-Raqeeb, Acting Director of Jeddah Traffic Department, said Thursday. Patrol cars will be stationed near mosques and malls to ensure that drivers do not double-park. Some two-way roads have been closed for dual traffic. Airport and highway patrols – especially on Jeddah-Makkah Highway, Al-Haramain and Al-Khair bridges and Madina Highway – have been intensified, and undercover patrol cars are combing the Corniche area. Traffic sign timings will be increased or decreased based on the traffic flow, and new hours have been set for the entry of heavy vehicles. The vegetable market road has already been made one-way. “A few minutes before Iftar during the first days of Ramadan, shoppers flock to the vegetable market causing traffic congestion,” said Maj. Gen. Al-Raqeeb. He urged motorists to comply with traffic rules to ensure their safety and that of others. __
